I never believed women should have to choose between the career they wanted and the family they dreamed of.
Throughout my career I have met intelligent successful women who felt they were being asked to do exactly that. Some had spent years building careers they loved. Others had started businesses, pursued further education or were still waiting for the right moment in life. Many carried a quiet sense of disappointment, as though they had failed because life had not followed a fixed timeline.
I never saw it that way. I believed women deserved more options, more information and more control over their reproductive future.
A Commitment to Learning
My journey into fertility medicine began with a love of science and a commitment to learning that has never left me. Even after decades in medicine, I still read new research, explore new ideas and challenge my own thinking.
Fertility medicine evolves rapidly and I have always believed patients deserve doctors who continue to grow throughout their careers.
Early in my career I travelled to New York where I trained with some of the worlds leading fertility specialists including Dr Zev Rosenwaks. Their commitment to excellence and innovation shaped how I practise today.
Looking Beyond What Has Always Been Done
Progress happens when we challenge accepted thinking and embrace innovation.
I have been fortunate to be involved in advances such as Australias first successful pregnancy following ovarian tissue cryopreservation and autotransplantation.
These experiences reinforced my belief that better outcomes come from curiosity and courage.
Why I Started No.1 Fertility
Back in 2017 egg freezing was still seen as niche. I saw something different. I saw women wanting choice, freedom and control over their future.
No.1 Fertility was created to give women that option and to build a clinic where science, medicine and patient care sit side by side.
From the beginning we wanted a place where decisions stayed close to patients and where innovation was used to improve outcomes, not simply maintain standards.
Patients Follow People They Trust
When we opened our first clinic in Geelong there was a belief that patients would not travel or change where they received care.
What happened was the opposite. Patients travelled, waited and trusted us with their journey. That trust remains one of the most humbling parts of my career.
It reinforced something important. Patients do not choose buildings. They choose people they trust.

One of the most common questions I am asked is how we can offer egg freezing from 2500 while continuing to invest in leading specialists, scientists and embryologists.
The answer is simple. The people making decisions about the clinic are the same people caring for patients every day.
