Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET)

A Frozen Embryo Transfer cycle (FET) involves tracking your body’s progress throughout the menstrual cycle with ultrasounds and blood tests, usually with medications to be able to place a frozen embryo in the uterus at the perfect time.

During the procedure the doctor will place a speculum into your vagina, clear your cervix, and insert a catheter (a fine tube) through your cervix into the uterus where the embryo will be placed. This procedure takes 5-10 minutes (although it can take longer) and is usually painless, however some people do experience mild cramping after the procedure.

Egg freezing and sperm freezing – detailed in our fertility preservation section – are also options for fertility treatment.
