WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This event is tailored for general practitioners in primary care who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills in navigating fertility-related consultations. It offers valuable insights into the escalation plans and the importance of multidisciplinary team-centred patient care management. The free event will contribute TWO CPD points towards professional development.

WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND?

In Australia, general practitioners play a pivotal role in addressing the growing prevalence of infertility, which affects one in six couples globally. With factors such as delayed family planning, environmental influences on sperm quality, and rising obesity rates impacting fertility, we know you are witnessing an increasing number of fertility-related consultations. Nearly half of these consultations result in referrals to fertility clinics or specialists, highlighting the importance of GPs facilitating timely intervention and support for your patients seeking assistance with conception. Additionally, societal shifts, including evolving attitudes towards marriage and family, as well as legislative changes supporting same-sex couples, contribute to the changing landscape of fertility care in Australia.

With changing social norms and advancements in assisted reproductive treatments (ART), such as in vitro fertilisation (IVF), patient expectations and decision-making around family planning have evolved. This shift underscores the need for you to initiate discussions on pre-pregnancy planning with patients, emphasising the importance of proactive engagement in reproductive health conversations, including fertility preservation.

As primary caregivers, GPs are well-positioned to educate, prepare, and support patients navigating fertility challenges. Thus, they contribute significantly to the comprehensive care and well-being of individuals and couples seeking to start or expand their families.

The experts at No.1 Fertility will provide guidance to assist GPs in preserving their patients’ fertility, ensuring they receive optimal care and support, and helping to understand the available fertility treatment and preservation options to maximise reproductive health.
