Starting or growing a family can feel overwhelming, especially when tests suggest male factor infertility may be involved. At No.1 Fertility, we understand the emotional, physical, and relational impact this can bring. Male factors contribute to around 40 to 50% of infertility cases, either independently or alongside female factors.

The good news is that many issues respond well to early, targeted support. Often, the first step is also the most powerful, gaining clarity.

We are more than a clinic offering IVF in Melbourne and Sydney. Our doctor-led, patient-first approach ensures you receive education, guidance, and care for both your physical and emotional wellbeing.

The Power of Knowing: Why a Semen Analysis Matters

A single test can uncover hidden factors affecting fertility. It provides clarity, direction, and confidence as you plan next steps with your specialist.

Sperm health influences conception in ways that are not always obvious. Challenges may include:

· Low sperm count

· Reduced motility (how well sperm swim)

· Abnormal morphology (shape)

· DNA fragmentation

Other contributing factors may include age, lifestyle, medical conditions such as varicocele or hormonal imbalance, past infections, and environmental exposures.

At No.1 Fertility, we begin with clear, evidence-based assessments. A semen analysis is the key first step, providing insights on volume, pH, sperm count, motility, and morphology.

These core indicators guide our approach and help determine whether further hormonal testing, imaging, or genetic assessment is appropriate.

Two Reliable Ways to Test

You can choose between two high quality options, both reviewed by our fertility specialists and designed to deliver laboratory grade results:

· In-clinic collection and analysis: Provide your sample onsite in one of our private rooms at our Sydney or Melbourne clinics. Immediate processing means results are typically available within 48 hours. This option is ideal if you prefer everything managed in one visit or require the fastest turnaround.

· At-home collection with Sapyen’s Antisperm Antibody Test: Collect your sample in the comfort of your home using a Sapyen kit. The kit contains a preservation solution that maintains sample viability for up to 72 hours, with prepaid return shipping to accredited partner laboratories. A personalised report is shared with No.1 Fertility, usually within three days of receipt. This convenient option is priced at $229.00, TGA approved and designed to maintain laboratory-grade standards while offering flexibility and convenience.

Whichever option you choose, our priority is to gather accurate, comprehensive information from the outset. This enables us to explore underlying causes if needed, including hormonal testing, imaging, or genetic assessment, and to discuss appropriate next steps based on your individual results.

Physical Support: Lifestyle, Testing, and Treatment Tailored to You

Small, practical changes can improve sperm quality, especially as sperm renew every 2–3 months.

· Nutrition and lifestyle: We provide tailored guidance on antioxidant-rich foods (nuts, berries, leafy greens), zinc sources like seafood, maintaining a healthy weight, reducing smoking and alcohol, and avoiding prolonged heat exposure to the groin.

· Targeted medical interventions: When needed, we coordinate hormone therapy, surgical interventions, or advanced laboratory techniques such as intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) to support fertilisation.

· Laboratory support: Precision sperm selection and assessment optimise outcomes across IUI, IVF or ICSI cycles.

Our Sydney clinic at Level 1, 33 York Street (weekdays 8 am–4 pm, select Saturdays) and our Melbourne locations (Collins Street and Epworth Freemasons) ensure convenient access to expert care.

Mental and Emotional Support: You’re Not Alone

Infertility can bring stress, guilt, and isolation. Male factor infertility often adds pressure due to social expectations. At No.1 Fertility, emotional wellbeing is integrated into care:

· Open conversations with your specialist without feeling rushed

· Guidance on managing stress, sleep, and relationship dynamics

· Access to counselling, support groups, and educational resources

· A supportive team that listens and explains each step clearly

We stay available for questions, second opinions, or guidance whenever you need it.

A Collaborative, Expert Team Across Locations

Our fertility specialists, scientists, nurses, and support staff work as a unified team across Melbourne and Sydney. This collaborative approach ensures consistent, high-quality care that is doctor-led, personalised, and patient-focused. Decades of experience in reproductive medicine are paired with compassionate care in welcoming environments, ensuring support physically, emotionally, and educationally throughout your journey.
