Should I try another IVF cycle straight away?

Does a failed IVF cycle mean something was missed?

Not necessarily. IVF is complex and even when everything is done well, a cycle may not result in pregnancy. The focus should be on understanding what the cycle shows and how that should guide your next step.

Do I need another opinion or a review of my fertility treatment?

Many patients find it helpful to have their treatment reviewed from a fresh clinical perspective, particularly if they do not feel they have clear answers or a defined plan. No.1 Fertility can provide a detailed review of your history and results to help clarify the most appropriate next steps.

What should I bring to my fertility appointment?

Any previous test results, cycle summaries and reports are helpful. Your fertility specialist will review these with you and explain what they mean in the context of your situation.

Can anything actually be done differently in a repeat IVF cycle?

Often, yes, but it depends on what your previous cycle shows. Sometimes the changes are small and targeted; other times the approach may need to shift. The key is that any decision is based on your individual response.

How quickly can I start an IVF cycle again?

Can No.1 Fertility help me move things forward more quickly?

Yes. For patients who are ready to proceed, we can fast-track your pathway. Your fertility specialist will prioritise your next steps and coordinate everything so you can move forward efficiently.

Do you charge to move eggs or embryos?

No. We do not charge to move your eggs or embryos. Access to your own embryos should never be a barrier to your care or your ability to make informed decisions.

Why are No.1 Fertility's costs often lower than other IVF clinics?

Our model is different. We are a doctor-led clinic, meaning decisions are made by fertility specialists based on clinical need. This allows us to reduce unnecessary steps and create a more efficient treatment pathway without compromising care.

Can I see the IVF clinic before starting treatment?

Yes, and we encourage it. We offer clinic tours so you can understand exactly how your care is delivered. Tours are available across our locations, including Sydney, with slight variations depending on the clinic setup.

What will I see on a No.1 Fertility clinic tour?

You will be guided through key parts of the clinical and laboratory environment, which may include cryo storage for eggs, sperm and embryos, monitoring and safety systems, backup infrastructure, and laboratory and procedure areas where applicable to that location. Each tour is tailored to the specific clinic.

For many people, the first conversation about fertility starts with their general practitioner or health service provider. You may have been thinking about it for a while, perhaps you’ve been trying to conceive, considering egg freezing, wanting a second opinion or simply feeling that it’s time to ask some questions and understand your options.

Fertility can already feel complicated enough without the process of getting help becoming complicated as well. Which specialist should you see? Do you need any tests before your first appointment? How do you organise the referral? What happens if your doctor has a question? And if there is a reason you should be seen sooner, how does that happen?

That’s why we introduced the No.1 Fertility GP Concierge Service.

My role is to make this part of the process easier for both patients and doctors. If you already know you would like to come to No.1 Fertility, you shouldn’t have to leave your GP appointment with a referral in your hand and then spend time trying to work out what happens next.

A direct connection for your GP

If you’re discussing fertility with your health service provider and would like to come to No.1 Fertility, our GP Concierge Service is available to support both you and your doctor with the referral process.

Your GP can contact me directly while you are still in the consulting room. I can help with the referral process, answer questions about which specialist may be most appropriate, explain what information or investigations may be helpful before your appointment and assist with the practical side of getting started.

If your GP feels there is a clinical reason for you to be seen more quickly, they can raise that with us as well and we can look at the most appropriate pathway and available appointments.

The idea is very simple. We want to remove unnecessary steps and make it easier for your GP to connect you directly with No.1 Fertility.

You don’t need to know exactly what treatment you need

One of the things patients often worry about is whether they need to know what treatment they are asking for before seeing a fertility specialist. You don’t.

Your first appointment may simply be about understanding where things stand. It may involve discussing how long you have been trying, your age, medical history, previous pregnancies or treatment, or questions around egg freezing, PCOS, endometriosis, miscarriage or male fertility.

You may not need IVF at all. The purpose of that first conversation is to understand your individual circumstances and work out what, if anything, should happen next.

Your GP doesn’t need to have every answer either. If they have a question before referring you, they can contact me and I can help guide them or connect them with the appropriate person within No.1 Fertility.

Making sure you see the right person from the beginning

Choosing a fertility specialist can feel confusing, particularly if you have never been through this before. Every patient is different and the most appropriate specialist may depend on your history, your concerns and what you are hoping to discuss.

By speaking directly with your GP, I can help guide the referral so you are connected with the right specialist from the outset.

It sounds like a small thing, but it can make the whole process feel much easier. We don’t want patients making multiple phone calls, wondering whether they have booked with the right person or feeling they need to understand the entire fertility system before they even have their first appointment.

Sometimes you just want some answers first

Not everyone who comes to No.1 Fertility is ready to start treatment straight away, and they don’t need to be.

You might simply want to understand your fertility, ask whether there are tests worth doing, talk about future family planning, get another opinion or find out whether now is the right time to see a specialist.

Your GP can use the Concierge Service to ask questions before you commence your fertility journey. If we can give your GP some direction and help make things clearer from the beginning, it can remove some of the uncertainty and make the process feel far less overwhelming.

If you already know you’d like to come to No.1 Fertility, you can mention our GP Concierge Service during your appointment.

You might simply say:

“I’d like to come to No.1 Fertility. I understand they have a GP Concierge Service if that’s helpful with the referral.”

If helpful, your GP can then contact me directly and I can assist with the referral, answer any questions they may have and help make the process as straightforward as possible.

Fertility care can involve a lot of information and, for some people, a lot of emotion as well. We can’t remove every difficult part of the journey, but we can make the process of getting started simpler, clearer and less complicated than it needs to be.
