Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET)
A Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) cycle involves closely following your body’s progress throughout the menstrual cycle using ultrasounds and blood tests. Medication is often used to prepare the lining of the uterus so a frozen embryo can be placed at the most appropriate time for implantation.
During the transfer, your No.1 Fertility Specialist will gently insert a speculum into your vagina, clear the cervix, and pass a fine catheter through the cervix into the uterus. The embryo is then placed into your uterine cavity. The procedure usually takes about 5–10 minutes (and sometimes a little longer) and is generally painless, though some people may feel mild cramping afterward.
Egg freezing and sperm freezing—described in more detail in our fertility preservation section—are also important options in your fertility journey and may be combined with IVF or used as standalone preservation strategies.
