ABC Radio: Babytalk – Covid-19 Pregnancy Birth IVF

This week has been a difficult week for many people. But there is some comforting news, if you’re pregnant all the scientific advice is that Covid-19 should not affect your growing baby.

This week on the Babytalk Podcast we catch up again with Australia’s Chief Midwifery and Nursing officer Alison Mc Millan to talk about the latest advice about pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding during this Covid-19 pandemic.

The news for couples undertaking IVF during this crisis is not so great and we speak to Dr Lynn Burmeister Medical Director of No. 1 Fertility an IVF Clinic based in Melbourne. This week most IVF clinics have had to stop procedures that take place in hospitals, egg collections and embryo transfers. Dr Burmeister has had to make difficult calls at her clinic telling her patients that IVF procedures are currently cancelled during the lockdown.

In the Babytalk podcast you’ll hear Dr Burmeister explain why IVF procedures have been put on hold during the Covid-19 outbreak and what she’s suggesting her clients can do to stay positive and healthy during this difficult time.
